The Western Iowa Advantage Region's monthly unemployment rate increased to 4.8 percent in June from 3.4 percent in June 2008, according to figures released from Iowa Workforce Development. Iowa's unemployment rate was 6.2 percent in June from a revised 4.1 percent in June 2008. The U.S. unemployment rate was 9.5 percent in June. Total employment in the region decreased slightly to 49,000 in June 2009 from 49,975 in June 2008.
Carroll County again has one of the lowest unemployment rates in the state.
